What is this all about anyway? PDF Print E-mail
Beneath most colleges and other large institutional campuses, there runs a network of tunnels which an enterprising adventurer may gain access to. The tunnels are meant to carry utility lines, first and foremost high-pressure steam pipes, as well as water, telephone, electrical, data, etc. Some of these tunnels are nothing special: well-lit, clean, walking size. Some others are dead black, searing hot, full of fog or dust, and make you wonder how the Fatman from the Facilities crew could ever fit in if work needed doing. All share a common thread: they are forbidden areas which few people see, and that is the thrill. Most urban explorers are also genuinely intrigued by what they find in these places, the industrial relics and forgotten artifacts and scrawled signatures of previous generations of quietly storied adventurers.
