I'm a freshman at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I discovered the tunnel system when a friend let slip that there were tunnels beneath the campus and then refused to take me there or tell me how to get in. After a while I found two enterances. The first is in the subbasement of the residence hall, from the recreational area called the Pipeline. To get to the tunnels from there, you have to go through the storage area. This door is locked all the time, but if you have a credit card, knife, or basically anything, stick it between the doors and they'll open right up. The second way is in the main building. There's a door in the back of it marked 2 (or is it 3? Either way, it's the one closest to the commons.) If you go in this door and down a flight of stairs, there's a door that says "This door should remain closed at all times." Every time I've passed it, it's been propped wide open. This enterance is probably safest- there's no signs, locks, or anything, so you can easily say that you just innocently wandered in.

As you enter the tunnels from here, you see a long stretch ahead of you. Walk down it, and you'll end up underneath the plant operations building. There's some nifty electrical generators and stuff there. Stay away from them. Eventually, you'll end up in a really cool room with all sorts of machines in it. There's ladders and stuff there, if you want to climb on them. Walk past a kind of scary noisy boiler type thing and down another short tunnel. If this tunnel is dark, there is no way to turn on the lights nearby, and you don't want to anyway, because it can be seen from the subbasment rec area. Just cling to the person you're going with and walk towards the door straight ahead. Go through it- you'll end up in the area used for storage space. Open the double doors straight ahead- you're in the SB rec area.

These are just the basic tunnels I've explored. I've only been down there twice, for very short periods of time. The first time we were scared away by security guards, the second time by dark tunnels. There is at least one major tunnel we didn't explore (Alverno is a very small school), and from what I've heard all the buildings are connected. There's also an interesting ceiling access panel in the long tunnel from the Main Building to Plant Ops that I didn't explore.
