Just wanted to let folks know there is a fairly well-sized collection of steam tunnels beneath S.W.T.S.U in San Marcos, TX. We used to explore these tunnels some years ago when I was a student there. Usually, it was a motley collection of punks that would go down there and drink beer and generally lurk.

The steam tunnels start at the Physical Plant then head underneath the main campus. They then lead underneath the the Alkek Library. They end at Commanche Street, but pick up again for a short run underneath the New Science Building. If one can walks along Commanche Street between the New Science Building and the Library, there are large concrete walls. You will notice on both sides of the street that there are two doors. These are locked entrances to the steam tunnels. There is only once open access left and it is almost impossible to get over.

If you go into the underground parking garage, there is a long high wall. At one point, you will notice that this wall does not go all the way to the ceiling. If you were to have a very long ladder, or were an adept rope climber, you could get on the other side of this wall and you would be in the tunnel. (There is also a large colony of bats that live in this parking garage as well.)

There are also large grates here and there around the campus that lead into these tunnels. They are well secured, but the adventurous might be able to open them and gain access.

These steam tunnels are very large and comfy. Great for hanging out. Some are well-lit, others are pitch black.

In addition, near the New Science building, there is a corner section where they have a sort of horticultural building. The section is fenced in all around, but the fence is very short. They have fenced this in to keep people out of the very deep natural cave that is there. It descends over a 100 feet down and leads to large chamber. It is also a very fun place to hang out at night. Bring a flashlight. :-)
